This is a one-page site for the book Lessons From the Front Lines. There are no accounts to create, nothing to sign up for, and no payments taken here. The short version: the only thing collected is anonymous traffic data, and only if you say yes to it.
Who runs this site
This site is operated by ADD LEGAL NAME OR BUSINESS ENTITY. If you have a question about anything below, or want a copy or deletion of data relating to you, write to ADD CONTACT EMAIL.
What gets collected
Only website analytics, and only after you accept them in the cookie banner. If you decline or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are placed on your device.
When you accept, Google Analytics 4 records:
- Which pages you viewed, in what order, and how long you stayed
- Roughly where you are — usually city or region level, derived from your IP address
- Your device type, browser, screen size, and operating system
- How you arrived, such as a search engine, a link, or typing the address directly
Google Analytics 4 uses your IP address to work out approximate location and then discards it. It is not stored or made available in the reports. None of this identifies you by name, and none of it is combined with anything else to try to work out who you are.
What is never collected
- Names, email addresses, or phone numbers — there is no form on this site
- Payment or card details — buying happens on Amazon, not here
- Advertising or cross-site tracking profiles — there are no ad pixels on this site
- Anything sold, rented, or traded to anyone. That does not happen.
Cookies and local storage
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
lfl-consent | This site | Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so the banner asks once. This is browser local storage, not a cookie — it stays on your device and is never sent to any server. | Until you clear it |
_ga | Google Analytics | Tells returning visits apart from new ones. Only set if you accept. | 2 years |
_ga_G-9LR3LNP4SP | Google Analytics | Keeps track of a single visit session. Only set if you accept. | 2 years |
Analytics runs through Google Consent Mode. Before you make a choice, every storage permission is set to denied, so no cookies are written. If you decline, Google may still receive a basic cookieless signal that a page was viewed — no cookies, no identifiers, and nothing that persists on your device.
Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. To deliver the font files, Google receives your IP address and browser details. This happens as the page loads and is not covered by the consent banner. Google states it does not use these requests to build advertising profiles, but if you would rather it did not happen at all, a browser extension that blocks third-party requests will stop it.
Links to Amazon
The buy buttons send you to Amazon. Once you land there, Amazon's own privacy policy and cookies apply, and this site has no visibility into what you do or buy. CONFIRM: affiliate link or not? — if these are Amazon Associates links, that must be disclosed here and on the page itself.
Your choices
- Change your mind at any time. Use the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page to reopen the banner and switch your answer.
- Clear what is stored. Clearing your browser's cookies and site data for this domain removes both the analytics cookies and the saved consent choice.
- Opt out of Google Analytics everywhere. Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on that blocks it across all sites.
- Do Not Track. Most browsers offer a "do not track" setting, and many sites ignore it. This one does not need it: analytics stay off until you actively accept.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — the UK and EU under GDPR, California under the CCPA, and a growing number of US states — you may have the right to ask what data is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to how it is used. Because this site collects no names or contact details, there is usually nothing held that can be traced back to an individual. If you want to ask anyway, write to ADD CONTACT EMAIL and you will get an answer within 30 days.
Analytics data is processed by Google, which may store and process it on servers outside your country, including in the United States. REVIEW WITH A LAWYER IF YOU EXPECT SIGNIFICANT EU TRAFFIC
How long data is kept
Google Analytics is set to retain visitor-level data for CONFIRM RETENTION SETTING IN GA — DEFAULT IS 2 MONTHS, after which only aggregate reporting remains. The consent choice stored on your device stays until you clear it.
Children
This site is aimed at people running businesses. It is not directed at children under 13, and no information is knowingly collected from them.
Changes to this policy
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is significant — a new tracking tool, say, or a different use for the data — the consent banner will reappear so you can make a fresh choice.
